If you’re anything like us, you love some good food. Luckily there are many options for you to choose from while staying at Ciel et Bois. If you feel like staying in, you can use apps like Uber Eats to find delivery options. If you’re up for a drive, you open up a whole new world of options.
Below we’ve organized the top food recommendations based on location. Chelsea, QC and Wakefield, QC are smaller towns if you want to stay out of the bigger cities. However if you’re looking to venture into Ottawa we have great recommendations to share. If you’re looking for activities to pair up with your dining experiences we have a list of trails you can hike or bike in the summer or a list of winter activities like skating, skiing, or fat biking.

Best places to eat in Chelsea, Quebec (20 minute Drive)
Chelsea, QC is a small town located only about 20 minutes from Ciel et Bois. Closer if you are going into Old Chelsea. It’s a perfect area to grab some food on the way into or out of Gatineau Park.
As Chelsea is a smaller town you won’t find any fast food chains but more family run restaurants. While this is not an exhaustive list, here are a few of our favourites.
1. Les Fougeres
A fine dining experience. Seasonal dishes crafted with local ingredients. Also has take-home three course meals available Thursday to Saturday and a shop with their jams and oils.

A café that has cocktails, coffee and good food. Located conveniently right outside Gatineau park so you can stop in before of after visiting the park!

Best places to eat in Wakefield, Quebec (20 minute drive)
Wakefield, QC is a charming riverside village located along the shores of the Gatineau River and very close to Centre Vorlage ski resort. Again, this is a smaller town with more family run restaurants than chains, however there is a Tim Hortons and Subway on the way into Wakefield. Below are a few of our favourite places to eat.
1. Café Le Hibou
Lots of great options here. Burgers, fish, mussels, and butter chicken poutine just to name a few. A review from the Ottawa Citizen says “Intricate, colorful, made-from-scratch creations, skillfully and intriguingly seasoned, locally sourced yet global and thoughtful in their perspectives.”

2. La Maison De Village (The Village House)
We would describe La Maison De Village as having chic comfort food. They keep their menu and you can guarantee everything on it was carefully crafted. They have great places to eat at the restaurant with views of the river, but they also have take home meals. We have a partnership with them and you can have them cook a meal for you at Ceil et Bois!

3. Wakefield Bakery
The Wakefield Bakery is a well-known classic bakery spot. You can’t go wrong stopping to grab something here.

A more refined bakery with really good soups and chilis.

5. Juniper Farms
A real farm-to-table experience available in the spring, summer and fall. You can visit their hundred-year-old farmhouse, walk through the fields, visit the farm animals and also stay for a soup, sandwich or seasonal snack.

Their main things are pizza and wine. What’s not to like. Has options to dine in or take out.

4. Di Rienzo’s Grocery
Di Rienzo is the best place to grab a sandwich in the city. While they are known for their deli meats and cheeses, they also have some great pasta dishes.
